In 2020, using social media to market your business is not an option, it’s a necessity. After all, no other marketing platform can give you the exposure and engagement that can be achieved with quality social media marketing. Using social media to market your business has so many benefits, from more traffic to your webpage, more sales to having the ability to spread your company information to thousands and even millions of people. But, how do you use social media effectively to market your business?
Create a presence on social media
There are a lot of ways to help get your brand some exposure on social media. There’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and even TikTok just to name a few. If you ask us, you need to make accounts on every one of these platforms in order to have the best social media presence and maximize your company’s reach. When creating social media accounts, it’s important to know your audience. If your target customer is a Baby Boomer, while we still think you have a presence on TikTok, that’s likely not the channel where you should focus your social media efforts. Know your demographic and hit the heaviest on the platforms where your target audience is present. If you feel overwhelmed by all of the different social networks out there, we recommend starting with Facebook. Facebook has nearly 1.79 billion daily active users, so it’s safe to assume that your target audience is on Facebook.
Make your presence known
It’s not enough to simply create different social media accounts, you need to actually use them to engage with customers and potential customers. Create engaging content that compels your audience to take some type of action to find out more information about your company. This can be accomplished with viral or funny videos, aesthetically pleasing Instagram feeds and/or blogs that can act as a resource with useful information, just to name a few. Try out different forms of content and see what your audience interacts with the most and go from there.
It’s also important that you are consistently posting new and fresh content. If you post one really great blog post that gets a lot of engagement and shares and then you fade into the abyss, all of that work was for nothing. Consistent great content is what creates a strong and loyal customer base. You want your audience to know they can rely on you to post resourceful and engaging content. You should be posting new content across your platforms several times a week.
In addition to posting frequently, you must also respond to your customers on social media. This can be done in the form of replying to messages and comments. In fact, statistics show that 48 percent of consumers say that when a company is responsive on social media, it prompts them to make a purchase.
